Girard-perregaux Launches Gp 1966 Series Large Calendar Moon Phase Watch

Girard Perregaux 1966 series is an important cornerstone of the brand, integrating the essence of high-end watches, reflecting the perfect balance of superb craftsmanship and classic elegance. The new watch combines delicate aesthetics with extreme watchmaking craftsmanship, and for the first time has integrated the moon phase display and large calendar functions into this series.
In the 1960s, Girard-Perregaux was awarded the Centennial Observatory Award of Neuchatel, Switzerland for its innovative technology and watch design. The new design launched by the brand follows the tradition of pursuing superb technology and pays tribute to the achievements of that glorious era. Girard Perregaux was one of the first watchmaking factories to set up its own research and development department. In 1966, the first high-frequency movement was introduced, giving the watch a very high level of accuracy. Today’s GP1966 series follows tradition, combining the practical functions of classic watches, minimalist aesthetics and flawless polishing. The diameter of the case is 41 mm, with a slightly curved crystal and polished diamond effect bezel, exuding exquisite elegance. The same curved corners give the case a sleek line, bringing maximum wearing comfort. The GP1966 series adds a moon phase display to present a distinctive aesthetic. This function is connected to the barrel and reflects the superb technology of Girard Perregaux.
This is the first GP 1966 series to incorporate a moon phase display and a patented large calendar. Extremely precise mechanical system, adding two overlapping discs to the GP03300 automatic mechanical movement. There is no boundary between the numbers to enhance maximum readability. The upper transparent disk is only 0.10 mm thick, and the paper is thin and nearly invisible. The date jumps instantly in less than one hundredth of a second, confirming the advanced watchmaking skills of this watch and creating a technological milestone for the brand.
The curved dial is lined with engraved bar-shaped time scales and curved polished willow-shaped hands. This unique design combines modern and classic characteristics, reflecting the consistent nature of the GP1966 series. The small second hand is placed in the middle of the moon phase display, in keeping with the traditional aesthetics of watchmaking. The sapphire case back reveals the brand’s own movement, which has 290 parts, including the Geneva corrugated pendulum. Perfect polishing is one of the outstanding craftsmanship of Girard Perregaux. Available in white and rose gold, the alligator leather wristband showcases the brand’s traditional aesthetics for over two centuries.
